The three heteroleptic bis(phthalocyaninato) rare earth complexes reported in this paper (compounds 2a-2c) exist as racemic mixtures. Attempts to resolve the two enantiomers of one of these complexes (compound 2b) by HPLC were not successful. Hence the characterising data given in the paper correspond to a racemic mixture rather than an individual enantiomer. These points were explicitly stated in the text. However, we used the word "chiral" on several occasions in order to emphasise this novel intrinsic property as a result of the C4h symmetry of the Pc(OC5H11)4 ring and the sandwich-like structure of these complexes. This may cause a misunderstanding that we have obtained optically pure enantiomeric bis(phthalocyaninato) complexes. We therefore would like to clarify the actual situation in this note. We thank Prof. Nagao Kobayashi for raising this point.

In the second paragraph (lines 5 and 7 from the bottom), the point group "C4h" was mistakenly typed as "D4h". The authors apologise for causing the confusion and making these mistakes.
